I suddenly remembered a story... something about management...

Romance Of the Three Kingdom

The famous characters are Lui Bei, Guan Yu, Zhang Fei and Zhuge Liang. They basically symbolise a very simple modern management/team.

Lui Bei - King/Manager
Guan Yu - Great General/Leader
Zhuge Liang - Strategist/Thinker
Zhang Fei - General/Worker

Lui Bei may be the king but he does not hold the control of the army. BUT he had the authority and power to choose and use the right person for each task. Lui Bei had done well in it. He is a manager, he is someone who set goals and have great foresight.

Guan Yu hold the main control of the army but that does not make him a king, he is lack of the foresight which a king should have. He is a leader, someone who can hold the team together and function as one body.

Zhuge Liang is neither a king nor a great general, he is a strategist. He maked use of his knowledge, action and speech to reverse situation and change the hearts of the army. He is thinker, he is definitely an asset if he is being used wisely. He will be the one who will most likely to bring success or failure to the leader and manager.

Zhang Fei is well known for his foolishness but he was a very loyal subjects. He used his strength to assist the manager and leader towards the goal, most probably majority belong to this category. He is a worker, the team cannot be build without them, can be considered the most important asset to the whole team.

The whole combination does not just end there which there are more to be included but these four are the basic roles for a team or company. All roles are equally important. It doesn't just take time to attain a certain height of seniority but skills, specialities and significance.
